----------------------------------------------------------------------- How to load new software - OmniClone(tm) (Formerly Replique) ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Logicube will, from time to time, release updated versions of the embedded operating software running on the OmniClone(tm). You can tell which version is currently installed by hitting on the main screen, and scrolling until you see the software version. New versions are posted on the web (www.logicube.com) in the technical support area, and will be made available free of charge. After downloading a new software file (always called replique.h86), please follow these instructions: 1. Connect the OmniClone(tm) and a PC with the enclosed parallel port cable. 2. Make sure your PC's parallel port is set to the EPP mode. This is usually achieved by entering the setup screen when the PC boots up. Depending on the BIOS maker you will hit either F2 or the DEL key. 3. Boot the PC to MS-DOS, or open a DOS window under Windows95/98. 4. On the floppy that comes with OmniClone(tm), you will find two important files: update.exe and loadrep.h86. 5. Copy those files to your hard drive in the same directory where you downloaded replique.h86. NOTE: The files from step 4 and the replique.h86 file MUST be copied to your hard drive prior to continuing. The floppy access time is too slow for the update operation to work successfully and therefore is NOT supported for this operation. 6. Run update.exe on the PC. 7. Power the OmniClone(tm) WHILE holding down the CloneNow! button. This will invoke the OmniClone(tm) setup program. (You can stop holding the CloneNow! key when the *OmniClone Setup* screen appears.) 8. The cursor by default should be pointing to the "Load new SW" option. If it is not, use the up/down scroll arrows to put the cursor next to this option. 9.Press "Select" twice and sit back. At this point the OmniClone(tm) loads loader.h86, which in turn loads replique.h86 into the internal flash memory. When loading is done (in approximately 2 minutes), the unit immediately runs your new version. If for any reason you need to reload the original software you can copy the replique.h86 file from the floppy that came with your unit into the directory you created above. Then repeat all the same steps from #1 above. Your unit will now have the original software loaded on it. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Release Notes - OmniClone(tm) (Formerly Replique) ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Version 2.0 ------------ Completed full set of Diagnostics functions (OmniDiagnostics). Added support for 6 target expansion unit. Software now sets partition flag from 0x0C to 0x0B for FAT32 partitions when targets are < 8.5GB. Corrected many Master Manager issues. Fixed issue where Load Estimation runs on second copy operation even though the master drive was not changed. Fixed incorrect icon display when using Master Manager. Version 1.6 ------------ Added support for drives that do not support IORDY. Version 1.53a ------------ Corrected a minor bug in the interface of not keeping the highlighted item set as the active item. Version 1.53 ------------ Added correct handling of NTFS partitions that are almost full of data. Added Master Manager handling when option is enabled. Version 1.51 ------------ On SETTINGS screen under CHS Mode added a LRG 8.5 setting to treat drives greater than 8.5GB as an 8.5GB size drive. This is to support older BIOS users that cannot see beyond 8.5GB but still want to use a larger drive. This mode uses the LARGE translation mode. Corrected problem when NTFS volume label is longer than 11 characters. Added support for newer Compaq machines which use LARGE drive translation method instead of LBA method. Version 1.25 ------------ Added speed improvements to cloning process. Tests if master drive has changed and only does partition estimations when master drive changes. Speed enhancements added to expansion of FAT tables when scaling drives up. Additional speed improvements to test if target drive is same model number between clone runs. If target model number is the same and settings have not changed, the speed optimization is skipped after the first run. Otherwise, the speed optimization is recalculated. On SETTINGS screen under CHS Mode added an LBA 8.5 setting to treat drives greater than 8.5GB as an 8.5GB size drive. This is to support older BIOS users that cannot see beyond 8.5GB but still want to use a larger drive. This mode uses the LBA translation mode. Version 1.1 ----------- The first public release version.
